Vaucluse House, Sydney
Lea´ was the Project Architect for the Vaucluse House while working at Design King Company. This site is beautifully located with iconic views to the Harbour Bridge and the Macquarie Lighthouse. It is a corner site, which had its challenges to maintain privacy and provide articulation to both street frontages. Beach House
Skennars Beach House, provides the clients with a north-east facing self contained one bedroom granny flat as an extension to their home. Uniquely positioned at the front of their house. The design had to complement the existing home and streetscape of the neighbourhood. Privacy was important from the main house and from the street. The design provides this whilst still providing an open plan and connection to the outside.
Lea´ was the Project Architect for the Coogee House extension and renovation while working at Design King Company. This site was challenging due to the close proximity to a large block of units and two sewer mains. The brief was to create a private yet light filled kitchen, dining and living space, with an outdoor area that connected to the awkwardly offset backyard. The design needed to be adaptable to the future needs of a growing family.
Crested on the side of a steep hill overlooking George’s River in Sydney, this young family required reworking of the floor plan of their home. This site was challenging due to the slope of the site and a sewer main. The house is split level, and the existing plan had the kitchen tucked away with no connection to the outside. The solution was to relocate the kitchen and create a light-filled space with direct connection to a new covered deck, providing an extension of the inside space. The newly relocated kitchen now connects with the lounge room, providing an open plan living zone in the home. The new location of windows and doors now provides cross ventilation to assist in natural cooling of the building.
Right in the hustle and bustle of the city, in Sydney, this young family required an extension and renovation of their home. The brief requested a new kitchen, laundry, rumpus space and outdoor area to connect to the backyard. The design maximized natural light, with a detailed sun study conducted, to make the internal space more comfortable. Vibrant colour was a favourite of the clients, which added warmth to a previously dark space.
